Communication and Electronic
Communication
- For communication during the course, use regular
email providers and send to my SFC
email address.
- Santa Fe College now wants you to use
CANVAS class mail system
("Conversations") for direct
communication with me.
- As far as I am concerned, you are still welcome to
use my regular email address (greg.mead@sfcollege.edu), but
the CANVAS system is now preferred. I will check both
regularly.
- If you DO use regular email, please note what I've
written just below:
- SFC now has a formal policy on email between SFC
members (Faculty, Staff, and Students):
- "Please note: In order to provide better
service, SF students now have access to Office 365,
including a student email account. Students are required
to use this email account when communicating with the
college. Login instructions can be found in eSantaFe
notifications."
- Because of this, I will
no longer respond if you use a non-SFC email account
such as gmail, hotmail, etc. Instead, I will
respond with the message above.
We are now REQUIRED to do
this.
- When contacting me, please tell me your name and
which class you're in. I have a lot of classes
and a lot of students.
- For submission of course materials, you MUST use the
Canvas system.
- If you have a lab exercise or other written
assignment, you CAN NOT submit it via email, it must be
turned in on paper. Individual pages must be STAPLED
together or I will deduct points.
- If you email me, I will respond via email usually
within 24 hours.
- When I need to make a general announcement to all
students, I will usually use the "Announcement" function in
Canvas.
- Other acceptable ways of contacting me:
- Zoom:
- During Fall and Spring semesters, I will
set up Zoom sessions every day for at least an hour.
Check the Announcements on Canvas for the times and how to
get into the sessions.
- During the Summer, I will not be on campus
regularly. However, my schedule will be very
flexible, and if you want to contact me on Zoom, all you
have to do is email me with the times you are available
(please give me at least a couple hours to respond), and
I'll schedule you for a Zoom time
- Telephone (see syllabus for number). -
I will NOT be in my office most of the time due to the
fact that my Summer classes will be online, but I will
check my voice mail.
- Come by my office during office hours.
- Slide a note under my door.
- Leave a note with the departmental office (X201).
